This course is designed for students who are more serious about improving their physical fitness through activities like strength training or more intensive cardio. Fitness and conditioning teaches students about the basics of anatomy, proper nutrition for training, and how to work out the different parts of the body for different activities.

MODULE 1

Big Idea: Knowing how our bodies move and function helps us stay safe during exercise.

  • Lesson 1: Anatomy Terminology and Terms of Movement
  • Lesson 2: The Skeletal and Muscular Systems
  • Lesson 3: Connective Tissue
  • Lesson 4: Exercise Form, Technique and Safety

MODULE 2

Big Idea: Following proper training guidelines and techniques can help us reach our health and fitness goals.

  • Lesson 1: Components of an Exercise Session

  • Lesson 4: Sets, Reps, the Reversibility Principle and the FITT Principle
  • Lesson 5: Progressive Overload

MODULE 3

Big Idea: Our personal fitness can be maintained or enhanced through participation in a variety of activities at different intensity levels.
