Instruction is focused on <a href=\"https:\/\/curriculum.gov.bc.ca\/competencies\">Core Competencies<\/a> in communications, thinking, personal and social responsibility.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\ud83c\udfa8<\/strong><strong style=\"color: white;\"> Day 2 \u2014 Explorations Day<br \/>\n<\/strong>This is the \u201clet\u2019s get out and discover\u201d day. Students learn in the community through hands-on experiences including: arts and place-based learning (Yes\u2014this means exploring real places, not just reading about them!) It\u2019s active, creative, and rooted in real-world learning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\ud83c\udfe1<\/strong><strong style=\"color: white;\"> Days 3\u20135 \u2014 Home Learning<br \/>\n<\/strong>Families take the lead at home, supported every step of the way by their teacher. Children continue learning the BC curriculum at a pace and style that works best for them.<\/p>\n<p>Parents and caregivers get guidance, structure, and resources\u2014without losing the flexibility they value.<\/p>\n<h3>So\u2026 What Is COMPASS, Really?<\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s a unique blended learning model designed specifically for BC families who want <strong>personalized learning<\/strong>, <strong>community connection<\/strong>, and <strong>teacher support<\/strong>, all without the rigid structure of full-time in-person schooling.<\/p>\n<p>Our teachers are genuinely excited about COMPASS\u2014and we think you\u2019ll feel the same once you see it in action.<\/p>\n<h3>Our Goal<\/h3>\n<p>To create <strong>learning that fits your child<\/strong>, not the other way around.<\/p>\n<p>We build stronger community connections, offer rich educational experiences, and support families in creating meaningful learning at home.<\/p>\n<h3>How We Make Learning Personal<\/h3>\n<p>Every child starts with a <strong>Student Learning Plan (SLP)<\/strong>. Together\u2014caregivers, teachers, and students\u2014we identify the child\u2019s strengths, interests, and natural curiosities From there, we design a personalized learning plan that builds on what lights them up.<\/p>\n<p><em>In <strong>Nanaimo<\/strong>, COMPASS serves students in grades 8-12 at Vancouver Island University.
