A short written project is the final assignment in this section<\/p>\n<p><strong>Module 1: Poetry<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students will develop skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing poetry. They will study poetic devices and vocabulary, analyze different forms of poetry and write their own poetry as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Module 2: Traditional Stories<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students will be studying the culture and art of Canadian Indigenous People. They will learn the elements of mythology and respond to different readings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Module 3: Independent Novel Study<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students will choose a novel of their choice (or from a suggested list) and discuss the novel using reading response journals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Module 4: Media Studies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students will learn all about social media, globalization, and cyberbullying and create their own work on these topics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Evaluation:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First Assignment\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 10% (Skill Builders Module)<\/p>\n<p>Assignments\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 60% (15 total)<\/p>\n<p>Discussions\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 20% (5 total)<\/p>\n<p>Quizzes\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 10% (2 total; 1 is for marks)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Required resources:<\/strong>\u00a0All materials are found and submitted online.
