Navigate Community

Learning at home strengthens the child’s sense of community, family, and commitment to learning. Navigate supports a learning partnership between teachers, parents, and the community to bring new learning experiences for students. This can happen in a variety of ways, from community information sessions and workshops to work experiences and student mentoring opportunities.

Navigate students join a family of learners where everyone belongs. Through Compass, students and their families can enjoy a wide range of face-to-face group activities where they make new friends, and develop social skills. Weekly Interactive Days for K-7 students are currently available in Nanaimo and the Comox Valley.

Our Indigenous program welcomes information from First Nations communities about cultural activities that will inform students about BC First Nations history and culture.

Navigate Parents

We recognize that parents are learning partners, and encourage family participation. Parents are co-facilitators, providing a comfortable home learning environment that supports access to resources and community opportunities. Navigate has an active online community for parents as well as students.

All Navigate parents are encouraged to support their child’s education by participating in the Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meetings. Your feedback is welcome, whether you’re the parent of a full time student learning from home, attending a blended learning program, or taking a single online course. The online PAC meetings are a great way to meet other Navigate parents and share ideas. Please see our PAC webpage for more information.

There is also a PAC Facebook group.
